B6 - Coronation Parade for King George VI, St. James United Church, Antigonish, 1937

Initially this was thought to be part of the Highland Games Parade. Local curator, Jocelyn Gillis identified that this parade is photographed heading in the opposite direction to what was typical of the Highland Games Parade. Notice the dress and apparent beginning of the parade in front of St. James United. This gives us the clues that this is a coronation parade for King George VI.

The Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth took place on May 12, 1937 in Westminster Abbey.
