Copied from Facebook. Stacey Doiron attended this genealogy talk in Pomquet by renowned Acadian genealogy scholar Stephen White (LeBlanc), He informed me the maternal side of my “Acadian” ancestors came from a mix of Mi’kmaq and Acadians. The Melong side included a lot of Mi’kmaq women throughout the generations.
And that all Acadians are descended from 60 Acadian women (with French roots) and 15-20 Mi’kmaq women.. Hers is one of the sources Stephen referenced: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/mothersofacadia/default.aspx?section=mtresults
