  1. Email from Daniel Benoit to Amberlee Boulton, July 1, 2014:
The children in the snow are my mom [Ann Marie Doiron] and her siblings, the oldest being Jean Leo Doiron b. July 1, 1943; Carol Effie Doiron b. October 7, 1945; Paul Joseph Doiron b. March 16, 1948; Ann Marie Doiron b. February 11, 1950. I’d say this picture was taken about 1952.

Holy Cross Church was built in 1863 and replaced a small chapel (La Chapelle de l’Exultation de la Sainte-Croix) that had existed since 1834 and was located half a kilometre north. The community of Pomquet, together with the community of Southside Harbour, became a parish (Holy Cross Parish) in 1875. Prior to this, the community was a mission of the more established and larger Tracadie parish, an Acadian community located eastward along the coastline.
